Welcome to North Wind Shops at Finlandia University

We are an independent campus store located at Finlandia University in historic Hancock. We are open to the public.

Our specialties include Finnish, Great Lakes and Upper Michigan history and literature, with wide selections on maritime history, copper mining, Native Americans, flora/fauna and the environment, as well as children's and adult's general fiction.

We are pleased to feature a wide selection of Finnish related books on-line. The collection includes Finnish reference such as dictionaries, phrase books and texts, studies of the Kalevala and history. Translations of Finnish literature and Finnish-American literature, both classics and modern works, are available. Several books in this category are by Upper Peninsula authors or those with Scandinavian ties. We offer hard-to-find books from Finnish publishers, translated into English. There are many beautiful books about Finnish history, art, culture, sauna, food and music. Finally, we offer children's books in Finnish: aapinens (alphabet books), picture dictionaries and story books like the Moomin tales. If you don't find what you're looking for here, contact us.
